Your Source for Dental Inlays & Onlays
What do you do when your tooth is too damaged for fillings, but not damaged enough to justify having a full crown? Installing a crown prematurely could result in doing unnecessary damage to your tooth, but dental inlays allow you to keep most, or all, of your healthy tooth, while replacing the damaged portions. Depending on the damage, we may use dental onlays or inlays to restore your tooth to full functionality.
How We Perform the Dental Bonding Process
We start preparing your teeth first by making the surface a little rough and picking the perfect shade of dental bonding. Next a conditioning liquid is applied to the surface of your tooth to aid in the bonding process. The resin, which is almost like putty, is applied, molded, and smoothed to match perfectly with your desired shape and look. Finally we use an ultraviolet light or laser to harden the resin and finish with some final touch ups. The entire process takes around 30 to 60 minutes per tooth on average, although it may take less time if we are only fixing a small area.
